Dental team training

As a dental assistant your role can be varied. You might accompany patients to the treatment room, be the person they share their worries with and help ensure they have followed the appropriate pre- and post-operative instructions. If you assist the clinician during surgery you need to be able to prepare the necessary instruments and materials for the appointment, handle the instruments at the right time and keep the work area clean and organized.

Dental hygienists can often have more contact with patients. If your responsibilities include the correct maintenance of the implants, you could be the first one to spot potential problems related to the surrounding hard and soft tissue. In these cases it is crucial to know when the patient should be directed to the clinician, so that they can be treated early on to help ensure a good prognosis.

These courses are aimed at dental assistants and hygienists who wish to progress in their careers to support their dentist with dental implant cases. You’ll develop a clear understanding of dental implants, the clinical indications and the associated risks and benefits. You will improve your skills in preparing an implant placement intervention and in assisting the dentist step by step through the surgical and restorative phases. Dental hygienists will further develop their competencies in maintaining implants and implant-supported prostheses, as well as in recognizing and reporting peri-implant problems to the dentist.
